5/25/26/27/12 - My Memorial Day Weekend

Eeeek!!! Its Sunday night and I have no posts from Friday, or Saturday!
I can explain!!!

5/25/12
Friday was a busy day at work. If you didn't know by now, I work at a flower shop. No I don't do any flower arrangements. Instead I do everything else. Clean the shop, answer phones, take orders, fight with the wire services, blow up balloons, write cards, and to deliveries. I was originally hired to manage my boss' books but somehow it ended up just being the two of us in the shop and being short staffed I've become her "slave" as she calls me. I really don't think she treats me like a slave. She is a sweet busy woman, who also happens to be my neighbor.

Anyways, Friday's total milage was 90 mile for deliveries.
90 MILES!!!!! ugh! no wonder I am in so much pain all the time. I feel like I practically LIVE in my car. My TomTom is the only thing who talks to me for the majority of the day.

So when I got home I was exhausted. My back and hips hurt so much that I couldn't do any Turbo Fire workout. Too much jumping and bending would just leave me in a crying ball on the floor. Instead, we (Geoff, Patrick, and myself) took a really nice LONG walk around the neighborhood. There is inclines on the streets so it was great resistance, and pushing the stroller helped too. PLUS I am 13" shorter than Geoff, so to keep up with his brisk walk was almost like a jog. On our way back we ran the last block to the house. I have to admit, this was the first time I have actually ran in... well... MONTHS! And I didn't die!!

Did you hear that?? I DIDN'T DIE!!!! Guess this Turbo Fire is actually working!!
I don't know if any of you know, but my physical goal is to be able to RUN a 5K. I can't do that yet, because of all the extra weight on my body. Its not good for my bad back, hips, and knees. So I need to lose more weight before I can run comfortably. I guess when I lose another 30 lbs I'll start actually running.

So about 3 weeks back, I had purchased a cute little costume bow ring for myself for my birthday at Target. All they had were size 8 for that particular ring. Bummer because the 9's fit me better. But I'm pig headed and bought the 8 anyways. I guess I figured that if I lose more weight my fingers will get thinner too. Well, I've tried it on and off several times and its hard to get on and once its on I feel like its cutting the circulation off my finger. But Friday night for the heck of it, I put it on.... and it fit! Like it didn't hurt when I had it on.

And just when I thought that my good night couldn't get any better, I stepped on the scale.... 200 lbs!!!! I AM OFFICIALLY 30 LBS LIGHTER!!!!!! I'm not sure if its because I cut almost half my hair off my head, but I made it!!! Now I can look forward to 190!

I have no shame in saying my current weight. In fact if you think about it, being 200 lbs compared to being 230 lbs is a big thing! I am more embarrassed over how I let myself get the way that I was/am than sharing my number, because if you were to look at me there is no hiding that I am overweight. Its like an elephant in the room. It doesnt matter how much that elephant weighs, its just a matter of why is it in the room in the first place?? Either way, each day I become closer and closer to being healthier and more physically fit. You cannot constantly look at the past, because you will miss what the present has in front of you and you will miss the glimps of the future.

Saturday was a crazy day. Geoff is still a reservist for the CG, so he was told that he needed new uniforms... or else. So we were dropping our 4 kids off to my in-laws for the day. It was going to be easier to drive to Mobile, Alabama without an antsy 2 year old. And we didn't want to leave our fur babies in their crate all day with no bathroom breaks or love. So they all had fun at Nana and Papa's house. My in-laws have 3 dogs as well, and my two nieces were there! Patrick loves his cousins.

I really tried to do my best while being on the road food wise (I'll list it all below) but its not that easy some times.
I have been having really bad back pain. My sciatic nerve has really been acting up and within 30 minutes of me being in the car I am squirming and cracking my back. I keep meaning to get myself checked but life happens and I don't get it done. So needless to say I was very uncomfortable the whole day. We left my in-laws at 9am, and were in Mobile by 12-12:30. Just in time for Geoff to get his uniforms. Then we found a mall so I can walk around it an stretch. Which was nice, since I needed it. And then we were on our way back home.
I asked if we can take the scenic route home, which we did.... but as hard as I tried not to I fell asleep for about 30 min. Its inevitable, I will always pass out in the car. As we were about 1 hour away from home, we hit major bumper to bumper traffic. It was pretty bad. I think we may have just stuck it out if it weren't for the fact that it was now 8pm and we were hungry and tired. So we back tracked a bit and took a different way home. One that Geoff says is gorgeous in the daylight. So next time we go to the Destin area, we will take this route. Plus, its faster :)

Breakfast:

1 cup of 1% milk
2 scoops EAS Lean 15 protein powder (Chocolate Fudge)
1 banana
7 ice cubes

Snack:
Shared a bag of sweet potato kettle cooked chips with sea salt (yummy!!!)

Lunch:
1 McDonalds double cheese burger (no mustard) - bad I know but we were on a budget and hungry
1 sweet tea
Geoff surprised me with a small chocolate shake :)

Dinner:
We went to McAllisters on HWY 98 in Sandestin I had some type of salad
it had chicken, dried cranberries, almonds, tomatoes, cucumbers, gorgonzola cheese... I think that was it. OMG SOOOOOO YUMMY!!
Sweet tea (1/3)

Snack:
1/2 cup of frozen yogurt Road Track Raspberry (I think thats the name of it.... right now I am too lazy to go into my freezer and look in fear of wanting some)

5/27/12
SUNDAY FUNDAY!!! We all slept in really late today. We didn't get up till 9am!!!! HOLY MOLY!!! I figured that since its a lazy morning I would cook pancakes esp since the last time I made them was for my birthday and it was the first time in a long time that I didn't burn them! Geoff was jealous since he was enroute to Oregon for work and missed out on the breakfast yummyness. After all, I don't think I know of anyone who will turn down pancakes.

Then we went to the beach!!!!! After my constant begging. Geoff wanted to go to the bay, but I wanted the beach. So to make me happy we went to the beach, but the trade off was listening to Geoff complain about the traffic, and tourists. I think it was a fair trade. We went to Saint Andrew's State Park. Parking was insane!!! So PAC and I got out of the car and put on some sunblock while Geoff went parking space hunting. We like Saint Andrews because they have jetties that form a "kiddie pool" as my mother in law calls it. Its great since there are no big waves, and not too deep.
I'm not sure if it was because last time Patrick was at the beach he ended up going face first in the water, with waves going over hid head twice, or the fact that he only had a 30 min nap in the car (maybe a mixture) but the boy who loves the water didn't want to go in the water. Geoff and I both held his hands as we walked and he kept saying "I want down, I want down".... which translates to "I want up". So I picked him up and held him in the water with me and splashed and played and twirled. He seemed to have fun as long as I held him. Geoff tried to get him to swim, and we tried to teach him to kick his arms and legs, but he just kept saying "NO! I want Mommy!!! I want down!!!" So he was back in my arms. I ended up getting a hand print on my shoulder from him holding onto me. Its like a physical handprint on my heart, but only its on my shoulder <3

After not having any Turbo Fire for the past 2 days I needed to get back on the ball. Tonight was Fire 45EZ. I think I have only done this one once before and I think it was by accident! So I was not a happy camper. I was a bit slow on the moves because they were in a different order and some were new all together! I wasn't as discombobulated as my first time ever doing Turbo Fire, but I wasn't as coordinated as if I were to do Fire 55EZ.

Breakfast:
2 pancakes with syrup

Lunch:
1 Publix premade sub turkey and swiss (without the swiss)
1 coke zero

Snack:
frozen yogurt (cake batter and cookies n' cream) with strawberries and white and dark chocolate chips, heath bar and cherries.
I shared this with Patrick

Dinner:
pizza

Snack:
well I made this for the three of us
  • 2 cups of vanilla low fat frozen yogurt
  • 2 1/2 bananas
  • 2 cups of milk
  • lots of ice
  • all in the blender

I thought it was pretty yummy, Geoff says that it needed more sweetener. But there is still some left over that I will have with Patrick tomorrow.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!! Remember its not about the bbq's or the beaches, or concerts, or the start of summer. Its remembering all the lives that risked and gave their lives for us to have our freedom and safety. You may not believe in war, but always believe in our troops!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

<3 Jess <3
